Friday 29 June:
The journey began in fair weather (Monday and Tuesday), but the lads have endured three days of relentless rain to date.
Hard to appreciate the splendour of Scottish countryside in heavy rain and difficult to dry out cycling gear overnight.
Monday 2 July:
Now into England. Through the Yorkshire Dales National Park today and the wet weather continues. . .
Tuesday 3 July:
At last, a day with only a little rain! Slightly easier day than yesterday's brutal hills.
Thursday 5 July:
A dry day! Warm and sunny riding through quiet country lanes. Wonderful vistas from the hill tops.
Friday 6 July:
"Spectacular" crossing of Severn Bridge and "thrilling" downhill through Cheddar Gorge - light rain.
Saturday 7 July:
Really heavy rain. 09:15 taking shelter. Record rainfall - approx 5" during the day, flooding and mud on roads - a very difficult day.
Sunday 8 July:
Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor - a dry, fair day.
Last night on the road before the final push of 70+ miles to Land's End with the prospect of some serious hill climbing.
Monday 9 July:
Job done 18:50 - 1050 miles!
